I didn’t cycle the tanks but I got my mosquito fish in there as fry (accidentally) and I use the “pond” to grow out some of my spare plants so it likely cycled up as the fish matured, gradually taking on more bioload while the plants absorbed any ammonia and nitrates resulting from the fry.
