Heme-regulated inhibitor hri kinase
Web22 nov. 2016 · The Heme Regulated Inhibitor (HRI) is a key regulator of protein synthesis in mammalian cells. Once activated under heme-deficiency and other stress conditions, it phosphorylates the α subunit of eukaryotic initiation factor 2 (eIF2α) leading to inhibition of protein synthesis. WebThese cells could be induced by heme to differentiate further so as to synthesize hemoglobin. The most probable molecular mechanism for this could be that heme may suppress and/or downregulate an endogenous heme-regulated inhibitor (HRI) kinase, an inhibitor of globin synthesis. This downregulation in turn promotes differentiation.
